So… I wasn’t joking. Tom tweeted these this morning. :/

While I’m very disappointed, I’m also not surprised.  It’s death for an actor to be type-cast by an early success.  

I honestly thought this was an April Fool’s joke, but it seems too mean for something this actor would do, unless someone’s hacked his account. I’ll remain undecided on spreading this as a “fact” until tomorrow or the next day. 

Unfortunately hearing this (if it’s true) means a lot of negative things for my favorite character’s development and bodes poorly for his fate in Thor 2. I’m not likely to remain in this fandom through 2015 now, and I don’t mean that as a snub so much as a statement of honesty about what keeps me interested a fandom.  I connect on a deep level, always, with one or two characters, and without them the whole thing falls apart and becomes dull for me.

So I guess I’m apologizing here too. 

..Ouch. I can understand why he’d want a break, but this also bodes poorly for my anticipation of Avengers 2. The quality of Tom’s (and the rest of the cast’s, for the most part) acting was part of what made Avengers so enjoyable. However, Tom also said he wouldn’t be playing Loki in Avengers 2- not that Loki wouldn’t be in Avengers 2- so there’s a decent chance that Loki won’t die in The Dark World at all.
